THE LAVENDER OF SEQUIM: AMERICA'S PROVENCE
"The Lavender of Sequim celebrates Sequim’s agricultural history and the growth of the lavender industry, as well as the medicinal purposes of lavender, varieties of the plant, and how to grow, harvest, and dry it. The author provides a handy chart detailing which foods and flavors complement lavender, and which varieties of lavender work best in the kitchen. I can’t wait to try her recipe for Fresh-Squeezed Lavender Limeade. Sequim’s lavender farms comprise their own section and, sprinkled with sweet quotations throughout, the book is a joy to browse. My favorite part of this guide was the breathtaking pictures….If you’re interested in lavender, or you’re planning a trip to the area, this is an excellent guide.
"The soggy Pacific Northwest is an unlikely contender for the title “America’s Provence.” But that is exactly what has happened since the first lavender fields were planted in 1995 in Sequim, Washington, among former dairy fields basking in the “rain shadow” between the Olympic and Cascade Mountains on the northern Olympic Peninsula. With the greatest diversity of lavender species in America and more than a dozen farms open to visitors within a 10-mile radius, Sequim is a relaxing summer destination where you can explore all things lavender. Local author (and first-time publisher) Bonnie Gillis artfully captures the magic of lavender in this beautiful but practical gift book, a perfect companion for explorations. It’s jam-packed with gorgeous photos by Roger Mosley and 114 pages of history, lore, quotations, health uses, recipes, growing and drying tips, and handy listings on visiting Sequim’s lavender farms."
~Nicky Leach, author, Olympic National Park: A Timeless Refuge and The Parks of Washington
“A beautiful tribute to lavender and the lavender fields of Sequim! Breathtaking photography - breathe deeply and you’ll almost smell the flowers. . . . A lovely gift book - particularly with a sachet of lavender.
~Ellie Crowe, author of Surfer of the Century, Hardcore Inventing, Caregiver Survival Guide, I Escaped North Korea, and more
"Author creates definitive guide to Sequim lavender. . . Along with exquisite photos, The Lavender of Sequim features recipes, farmers’ favorites, an insight into essential lavender oils, tips for harvesting and drying lavender, lodging and shopping for lavender tips and the history of Sequim’s lavender.

JUST SISTERS: YOU MESS WITH HER, YOU MESS WITH ME
I bought this for my nieces, who have lost their mother to cancer... I wanted them to know the wonderful relationship that I had with their mother when we were growing up... and through life's ups and downs as we married etc... she was always there for me, and I her. This book definitely covers all of the bases. I just wanted them to know the love between sisters is special and to always cherish that bond through thick and thin.. I would recommend this to any sister!

Perfect gift book. Touching, and humorous, photos of animals paired with inspirational, non-religious, quotations makes this a perfect gift book for any sister, including "sisters of the heart." Regardless of the differences my sister and I have had throughout the years, the bottom line is that "you mess with her, you mess with me." It's that simple.

“This is a great table-top book . . . There is far more common ground among the world's faiths than not. And yet within that common ground are wonderfully unique ways of expressing faith that should be celebrated. That's the premise behind this lovely book.”
Cleveland Plain Dealer
“Kuchler turns to the scriptures of many faiths to find compassion, acceptance, humility, integrity, faith, wisdom, discipline and surrender.”
Herald Sun Sunday - Australia
“Need a spiritual lift? Look to the heart, or “One Heart,” by Bonnie Louise Kuchler.”
“Indeed, the book succeeds in illustrating the shared teachings of these religions... This is a light yet profound read.”
If people adhered to the values presented in One Heart . . . people would think with compassion rather than greed, humility rather than pride, they would be honest, self-controlled, faithful. They might even be happy. Wouldn't that be something?”
Honolulu Star Bulletin
“This compilation comes at a time when differences seem to be pervading our thoughts . . . We should try and see our similarities.”

“Bonnie Louise Kuchler's One Heart: Universal Wisdom from the World's Scriptures arranges passages from the major religious traditions along key themes and principles with hopes of helping us all discover the common heart of our traditions. It is a wonderful little book for those who find their own faith strengthened and renewed by engagement with other traditions and who would like something to flavor their own practice of meditation, prayer, or dialogue. Readers will perhaps most enjoy the sections interjected throughout on "Spiritual Practices."

During a dark & painful time, I acquired this book to read while traveling along a forced walk that tested my faith. It became my journey's light as I traveled via unexpected pathways with inherent twists & unexpected turns, etching my faith in humanity. Its passages within the chapters forced emerging aspects of awareness to reach new levels of reality-based truths & wisdom about myself & those persons as well as places & things around me. Its principles helped me to better see & recognize certain universal truths among all faiths which in turn validated the humanity of each faith as I interacted with others of numerous faiths. The gentle wisdom & truths excerpted from the diversity of religions & their respective faith-walks echoes within its pages making this book a keeper for life for references sake alone.

"'My life is blessed; I have held my children's children.' So opens this little gem of a book with a quote from Jeremy Taylor a 17th-century English bishop. There's a lot to like about this one . . . The illustrations are photographs from the animal world, depicting parents and offspring in wonderful, unposed attitudes. Images are sharp, clear, quite colorful, fun to look at. But the text draws you and holds you. Grandparents is thoughtfully put together. The pictures enhance the words; the words enhance the pictures."

FLOWERS FOR MOM
Flowers practically burst off the page in "Flowers for Mom." Author Bonnie Louise Kuchler offers a loving ode to mothers. But you'll likely not even notice the text at first as you soak in the crystal clear photos. It's a striking but delicate little book portraying a gorgeous variety of flowers.
