Bonnie Louise Gillis (formerly Bonnie Louise Kuchler) has authored twenty-eight gift books and one nonfiction book. Thanks to several national publishers over the past twenty years, sales of her books exceed 400,000 copies.
Not far from Seattle, Bonnie and her husband make their home near the glaciered mountains, ancient forests, and untamed beaches of Olympic National Park—minutes from the renowned lavender farms of Sequim, Washington. Bonnie’s favorite neighbors are a family of black-tailed deer, and her biggest thoughts come from tiny seedlings and towering evergreens. Bonnie was born in Hawaii, into a family of career photographers. Growing up in their studio, she learned the power of communicating with images. This heritage has filled her gift books with nearly as many pictures as words. Also a serial entrepreneur, Bonnie has grown and sold several small businesses, including a waterfront bed & breakfast, a book & gift shop, and a property management company. These days she spends most of her time writing and has a small online shop that specializes in miniature garden accessories. |
- "Enchantment is the magic that happens when flowers of innocence and flowers of beauty collide."
- "Fragrance among lavender blooms is as varied and nuanced as wine. Ponder lavender as you would grapes, knowing that the unique chemistry of each plant is colored by such things as soil, rainfall, cold spells, and even the air."
"A Sister's heart is the safest place to bury all your secrets."
- "Why would the same Creator who loves novelty--who saw to it that every sunset and snowflake would be unique, and that no two human beings would ever think exactly alike--why would this creative Spirit demand that every person follow one rigid path?"
- "Girlfriends share two ageless elixirs: We laugh until we cry, and we cry until we laugh. Either one heals us from the inside out."
- "Hope cannot be lost. It can be muffled, snubbed, or even pushed away . . . but hope is still there, waiting patiently for a single flight of your imagination."
- "She gives me one last hug, her eyes like sunlight skipping on the sea. I stand there smiling, waving, watching her taillights disappear. Then salty with love, my tears overflow."
- "Letting go would've been easy if you were made of Kevlar instead of skin, titanium instead of love."
